Welcome to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and School. Today, we live in a world that is ever changing because of technology. Information is accessed from all over the world on our computers and cell phones. Now with the click of your mouse or the touch of a screen you can learn about St. John’s and what events are taking place in the church or in our Day School.
God has blessed us as a congregation for nearly 200 years, 140 as a Lutheran Church. All who gather for worship hear God’s saving message of grace, shown to us in Scripture and fulfilled by Jesus our Lord. Our Mission Statement is “Reach, Teach, and Share the Gospel.” We will do this faithfully until the Day our Lord returns.
In 1892, God called St. John’s to open the doors to our school, this was the beginning of Lutheran education in Mayville. God has been working through this congregation to raise up His children, His next generation of disciples who will faithfully carry on the Lord’s ministry. Our students learn about life in God’s world, Christian values, and are given the opportunity to become the hands and feet of the Lord as they serve Him and their neighbor. Again these are the teachings and instructions of God that He has spoken to us. As a congregation, we give thanks to God for His blessings of the past and the faith to follow where He leads us in the future.

The Church Council is the executive body of the congregation. Church Council membership shall consist of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer. As well as the Chairman and Secretary of the following Boards: Board of Elders, Board of Trustees, Board of Stewardship, Communicant Member Education and Board of Ministry to Children. The Pastors and Principal are ex-officio members of the Church Council.
It shall be the duty of the Church Council to consider and discuss all matters pertaining to the general welfare of the congregation, to receive all reports, and to present recommendations to the congregation.
The Church Council shall act in all matters committed to its care by the Voters Assembly and shall be responsible to the Voters Assembly.
PRAYER CHAIN
The Prayer Chain is made up of over 100 caring church members who are willing to pray for anyone who is in need of God’s help. We have comforted many people with our prayers.
It is always reassuring to know others are praying for you in your time of need, and God has performed many miracles right here at St. John’s.
